The 24thAnnual Inter House Athletic Meet of the Asian School, Dehradun which was declared open on 3rd November 2023drew to a close on 7thNovember 2023 amidst the verdant grounds of the Woods. The Chief Guest for the closing ceremony was former Director General of Police (DGP) of Uttrakhand Anil Kumar Raturi. An IPS officer of the 1987 batch. The other guests of honour were Mr. Vijay Khanna, MD .Krishna Medical Centre. The Inter House Athletic Meet was spread over a period of 5 days. It witnessed enthusiastic participation of the students from the four houses in different track and field events spreading a lot of joy and competitive spirit among the athletes.
Arjun House was the overall winner. It also won the Inter House athletic trophy of the year 2023-24. The Best March past, trophy was bagged by Ranjit House. Jayati Malhotra of Ashoka House was declared the Best Athlete (Girls) and Sashwat Gupta of Ranjeet House was declared the Best Athlete (Boys) for the year 2023 – 2024. Various track and field events were held in which the students showed a commendable performance. Students from the Middle wing of the school presented a well synchronized Mass P.T Drill &the captivating Yoga display showcasing graceful and serene ‘Surya Namaskar’ poses and promoting physical fitness, was presented by the young ones of the Junior wing. The most awaited and interesting event, the Tug of War between Parents & Teachers was won by- the Teachers.
The four house contingent put forth an impressive march past in rhythmic cadence to the melodious tune of ‘Fanfare’ and Kadam – Kadam Badhaye Ja’ played by the school band led by Head Girl Ms. Dishita Pandey on bugle trumpets, cymbals and drums that left the spectators wonderstruck.
Mr. Anil Kumar Raturi gave away the trophies to the winners and threw a flood of light on the importance of sports. He appreciated the efforts put in by the children and their teachers in putting up such a spectacular show. He advised the children to continue to work hard and make sports a part of their lives as it will help them stay disciplined. He inspired the students to inculcate good leadership qualities so that they can contribute to our country’s progress and prosperity. A memento was presented to the chief guest by the Vice President Mr. Madanjeet Singh .The Meet was declared closed by the Principal and the flag was lowered to the trumpeters’ last post and the same was handed over to the HOD Sports, Retd. Subedar, Sanjay Kumar Rana APTC, by the Principal, Mrs. Ruchi Pradhan Datta.
The Vote of Thanks was proposed by student Ananya Sedha who thanked the Chief Guest, Principal, all house masters for their direction and guidance. The Annual Athletic Meet came to a close with the final March Past by the four Houses.
This special occasion was graced by Vice President, Mr. Madanjeet Singh, Board of members -Mrs. Simi Juneja and Mrs. Harveen Juneja, Director Mr. Gaganjyot Juneja and Mrs. Vartika Sah, special guest Col. Sumit Datta, Principal,Mrs. Ruchi Pradhan Datta, Head Senior School, Mr. Mukesh Nangia, Head Mistress Ms. Prachi Mehrotra Deputy Head Junior School, Ms. Surbhi Narula, and the entire teaching staff and the students of The Asian School.
