Capacity Building Program (CBP) – School Health and Wellness Programme (SHWP)

The Asian School, Dehradun, under the leadership of its Principal, Mrs. Ruchi Pradhan Datta, successfully hosted a two-day Capacity Building Program (CBP) on School Health and Wellness Programme (SHWP) on 29th and 30th April 2026. The workshop was conducted under the aegis of the CBSE Centre of Excellence and aimed at strengthening educators’ capacity to promote holistic well-being among students.

The sessions were facilitated by Ms. Sabarjit Singh, Director, Bristol Public School, and Ms. Vandana Pande, Assistant Director, Bhartiya Shiksha Board, Haridwar. The resource persons engaged participants through structured modules and interactive activities aligned with the SHWP framework.

The workshop focused on sensitizing teachers to the importance of physical, emotional, and mental well-being in schools, while equipping them with strategies to integrate health and wellness into everyday classroom practices.

On Day 1, participants were introduced to the vision, objectives, and key themes of SHWP, including emotional well-being, interpersonal relationships, nutrition, health and hygiene, and substance abuse prevention. Through discussions and reflective activities, teachers explored ways to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

On Day 2, the focus was on group discussions, and activity-based tasks that emphasized integrating SHWP themes into lesson planning and classroom interactions. The sessions also highlighted the role of teachers as Health and Wellness Ambassadors, fostering empathy, communication, and student support.

The workshop employed a blend of discussions, and experiential activities, ensuring both conceptual clarity and practical application. Participants described the program as insightful, engaging, and relevant to their teaching practices.

The Capacity Building Program on SHWP at The Asian School reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to holistic education, empowering educators to create a more supportive and health-conscious learning environment.
