Deepotsav 2022

THE ASIAN SCHOOL CELEBRATES DEEPOTSAV.

Light is the symbol of truth, give light the darkness will disappear of it self- with this in mind hundreds of earthen Lamps are lit in the White House Court of The Asian School, Dehradun every year on the occasion of ‘Deepotsav’- the annual custom of showering blessings on the Asianites who are looking forward to the end of the school life and a new beginning.

The solemn occasion which was held on April 09, 2022 was observed by lighting of hundreds of Earthen Lamps and tying of ‘Kalavas’ and applying of ‘Tilak’ on the foreheads of  290 students, who will appear for the CBSE, class XII Board Exams in April 2022.

The auspicious ceremony commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Principal, Ms. Ruchi Pradhan Datta, followed by beautifully sung ‘Vandana’ by the school choir .The Principal and the School Academic Director showered their blessings upon the students of the outgoing batch of class XII . On the occasion , the exchange of earthen lamps took place which is symbolic of conferring the honour, power and responsibility on the new ‘Prefect designates’  by the old one.  As per tradition, the blessings ceremony saw the Class XII students grow sentimental and emotional as they recalled their happy memories of their long years in ‘The Asian School’.Along with the blessings, students were presented framed class photograph as mementos by the Principal.

The Principal, Ms. Ruchi Pradhan Datta, in her speech blessed the outgoing batch and extended her good wishes to them for a bright, successful and prosperous future . She wished that each one of them comes out with flying colors and they make themselves, their parents, teachers, and the school proud. In her speech she also gave valuable tips to students on how to fare the Exams with confidence and self assurance . She was sure each one of the students is working to the best of his/her capability and making full use of the time that is remaining before the board exams

Also speaking on the occasion; Academic Director Mr. Anant Vijay Dutt Thapliyal, advised the students to understand the importance of hard work and thorough preparation. He also said that they should know the value of discipline. They should not put off their work and should burn midnight oil in order to prepare for Board Exams as it is their hard work that will hold them in good stead throughout their lives and nothing should deter them from achieving their goals He blessed the students and wished them good luck.

The function was attended by Vice President of The Asian School Mr. Madanjeet Singh, , Head Senior School, Mr. Mukesh Nangia , Head Middle School Ms. Prachi Mehrotra , and the entire teaching staff of the school.  The programme concluded with the deliverance of ‘ Vote of Thanks’ by  Head Boy Yuvaan Narayan; followed by inspirational song each by the young Asianites and the staff for the outgoing batch.

The Deepotsav Ceremony was probably a moment of mixed feelings for the students, sad at the prospect of leaving behind what was ‘second home’, with all their friends who have become like siblings after spending so many years together-yet so excited to explore the world that awaits them.
