The Asian School, Dehradun, inaugurated its 26th Annual Athletic Meet Inter-House on 11 October 2025, amidst the picturesque surroundings of The Woods. The afternoon brimmed with enthusiasm and anticipation as students, staff, and guests gathered to celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship and teamwork.
The event was graciously inaugurated by the Principal, Mrs. Ruchi Pradhan Datta, who declared the Meet open by hoisting the School Flag. The occasion was graced by Retd. Col. Sumit Datta, the Guest of Honour, whose presence added prestige to the event.
Following the formal inauguration, the audience witnessed a spectacular March Past, led by the Sports Captain, Shaurya Basera. The contingents of all four houses marched in perfect synchrony, reflecting discipline and pride. Students then took a solemn pledge to uphold the true spirit of sportsmanship, fair play, and honour.
Leading the parade was the White House contingent, featuring the Head Boy, Aarush Pratap Singh; Head Girl, Anvishita Yadav; Vice Head Boy, Akshat Verma; Vice Head Girl, Shreya Rajput; Co-Curricular Activities Captains, Aahana Behl and Kashvi Negi; and Literary Secretary, Riddhi Bijalwan. They were accompanied by Campus Officials, Anant Veer Rana and Mahi Singh, and Mess Secretaries, Yashwan Jaiswal and Aanya Jaiswal. The contingents of Arjun House, Ashoka House, Ranjit House, and Shivaji House followed in vibrant unison, adding grandeur to the occasion.
Each house flag was carried with pride — Silvania Gurung for Arjun House, Peehuna Sharma for Ashoka House, Lalremruati Vangchhia for Ranjit House, and Manya Jangpanji for Shivaji House.
A special highlight of the opening ceremony was the stirring performance by the school band, led by Sanchit Garg and guided by Band Master, Retd. ACP Naib Subedar Rajesh Negi. Their soulful renditions of “Kadham Kadham Badhaye Ja” and “Saare Jahan Se Achha” filled the air with patriotic fervour.
The torch run was a moment of pride, symbolizing the spirit of perseverance and excellence. The honour of carrying the torch was bestowed upon four outstanding athletes — Rythm Narula. Siddhant Vohra, Nilza Angmo and Shaurya Basera. The day witnessed several thrilling track events, where determination and teamwork shone through. Ishi Sharma of Ashoka House clinched the first position in the 800-meter run (Girls, above 16), while Shivaji House triumphed in the 4×100-meter relay (Girls, under 12), displaying commendable coordination and spirit and in 4 X 100 Meter relay (Boys above – 16) Shivaji House secured the first position.
The event was attended by Mr. Mukesh Nangia, Head Senior School; Ms. Surbhi Narula, Deputy Head Junior School; and HOD Sports, Retd. Subedar Sanjay Kumar Rana (APTC), along with the dedicated faculty and enthusiastic students of The Asian School.
The ceremony truly embodied the school’s motto — “Higher, Stronger, Brighter.” It was a resounding celebration of athleticism, unity, and pride in The Asian School spirit.
